 Hey everyone!
My name is Kyra Turner and I am very proud to be the 2010 Miss Eugene Pro Rodeo Queen. I am the eighteen year old daughter of Jean Sirotek of Springfield, Oregon and I will be graduating from Pleasant Hill High School this June. Later this year, I plan on attending Lane Community College in pursuit of Graphic Design and some business classes. After college, I definitely plan on keeping my passion for horses alive.
I started riding horses when I was four on a Shetland pony named Little Bit. (And no the name did not come from his little stature!) I instantly fell in love and began riding in the Eugene Pony Club. My mom bought me my very own pony when I was seven and boy, she was rotten! I would like to say this pony, ironically named Pokey, made me the girl who is known for having Velcro in her seat. Pokey introduced me to the thrill of English and Jumping, and so my mom bought me a Thoroughbred and we competed in United States Pony Club in dressage and show jumping.
Now I know you are all thinking, what kind of RODEO queen is this?
Well, Pokey ended up having a baby that I named KT Stardust Holliday or Dusty for short. We started off in 4-H and when the time came we joined Oregon High School Equestrian Teams. This allowed us to try new things like cows and breakaway roping. And then I was hooked. Dusty has been my pride and joy, taking me to the top in everything we do. In 2008 we got the chance to be the Jr. Princess for the Yoncalla Rodeo court and it was a blast. We grew together as a pair and got the opportunity to ride in the Eugene Pro Rodeo. From that moment I knew that’s where I wanted to be! It’s been a great privilege to know Dusty and I can’t wait to travel to other rodeos and represent our fantastic home rodeo!
